Recently, we had the wonderful opportunity to attend a dessert-making class led by the talented Karen Krasne of Extraordinary Desserts by Karen Krasne!

As fellow bakers, we’re always grateful for the chance to learn from others who share our passion for their craft. It was such a privilege to spend an evening learning from someone with so much knowledge, creativity, and experience.

We’re especially thankful that our team had the opportunity to step away during one of our busiest seasons, enjoy each other’s company, learn something new, and end the evening with some of the best bread pudding we’ve ever had!

A heartfelt thank you to Karen and the entire Extraordinary Desserts team for their kindness and hospitality. We left feeling inspired, grateful, and already looking forward to our next visit 😉

Welcome to Julian. 🍎

If you’re coming up this autumn to pick apples with your family, have a slice of pie, or simply spend a little more time in the place we call home, we’re excited to officially open the doors of Shady Acres Guest House.

Brought to you by the family that started the Julian Pie Company, Shady Acres is a historic five-acre property nestled between Julian and Santa Ysabel. Originally an apple packing shed and roadside milk stand, the home has been restored over the years while holding onto much of its history and vintage character. And if you like antiques, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to discover Brandi Smothers, located on the same property.

For our family, it’s another way to share a little piece of Julian with the people who have been a part of our story over the years.

And because no trip to Julian is quite complete without pie, each stay includes a fresh Julian Pie Company pie and cookies.

Shady Acres is a separate family-owned business from Julian Pie Company, with reservations made independently through Airbnb.

September is here, which means Pumpkin Pie season is just around the corner. 🎃

The mornings are slowly getting cooler, the leaves are beginning to turn, and apples are ripening throughout the orchards. Fall is starting to make its way back to Julian.

And by the end of the month, Pumpkin Pie will be back for the season. 🍂🥧
