September 11, 2001 — September 11, 2026
25 years ago today, the world came to a halt.
On a beautiful September morning, our nation was attacked. The images from New York City, the Pentagon, and a quiet field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, became images we would never forget.
Nearly 3,000 lives were taken that day. Families were forever changed. Firefighters, police officers, paramedics, military personnel, and ordinary Americans ran toward danger while so many others were trying to escape it.
And yes, I say all of this with emotion.
Because for those of us who remember September 11, 2001, it doesn’t feel like something that happened 25 years ago. We remember where we were. We remember watching in disbelief. We remember the fear, the confusion, the heartbreak, and the silence as we realized that our world had changed.
But I also remember what happened afterward.
For a moment, we weren’t divided by politics, backgrounds, beliefs, or differences. We were simply Americans. Flags appeared everywhere. Strangers helped strangers. Communities prayed together. First responders became the heroes they had always been. We stood together because our country was hurting.
A generation has now grown up knowing September 11 only through photographs, videos, history books, and the stories we tell them.
That makes our responsibility even greater.
We must tell the story.
We must remember the innocent lives lost.
We must remember the heroes who ran toward the danger.
We must remember the passengers and crew of Flight 93 who fought back.
We must remember those who served, sacrificed, and continued to suffer in the years that followed.
Twenty-five years have passed.
The skyline changed.
Our country changed.
The world changed.
But some things should never change.
We remember.
We honor.
And we will Never Forget.
