Our parents made sure that we learned everything about our culinary culture, from simple, everyday recipes to those handed down from grandmother to granddaughter. Perhaps the biggest lesson we learned in those interesting kitchen lessons was that food is the best way to share love with anyone. A delicious plate shared at the dinner table keeps the family bond going and is enough to turn strangers into acquaintances and enemies into allies. We didn’t realize it then, but that’s how the idea of starting a restaurant was planted in our minds. There at the dinner table, enjoying sumptuous traditional dishes that we helped our parents prepare. So, when we were all grown up and wanted to do something significant to us and the world around us, we agreed to start a Mediterranean restaurant. Here, we hope to bring smiles to the faces of lone strangers and whole families as we share what our parents have always taught us to share; delicious plates served with love.

I need to ask our community for help. This is hard to write.

Since this afternoon, our Google page has been hit with a wave of 1-star reviews. Not from people who ate here. From people upset about a poster.

We put up a sign for our new spicy honey chicken. We photographed the real dish, off our own line, and had the image “enhanced.” It came back looking fake. Some of the criticism about that sign is fair, and I’ll say that plainly: it was a bad call, and the signs are down.

But here’s what’s happening now.

One review says “such great food”…and rates our food 1 star.
Another says “I usually get bowls here” … and rates food, service, and atmosphere 1 star each.
Another says “I’m glad I saw the sign before I walked in.”

Three of them landed within minutes of each other. None of them are about a meal.

We’re four brothers. We opened these doors in Joliet to cook the food we grew up on, and every star on that page came from someone who actually sat down and ate.

We’re not asking you to defend us. We’re not asking anyone to leave a 5-star review…please don’t do that just to help us. It’s not honest, and honest is the whole point here.

We’re asking for two things.

If you see one of these reviews, tap the three dots and report it as off-topic. Twenty seconds. That’s it.

And if you’ve eaten with us. good or bad. leave the review you actually would have left.

We’ll take the criticism about the sign. We earned that one. We’re just asking not to lose the restaurant over it.

Better late than never ...but this deserved to be said properly.
June 20th. Customer Appreciation Day.

Over 500 of you came through our doors in three hours.
The line went around the block. The DJ never stopped.

Strangers shared tables.
We're still thinking about it.
