Some of you know a little bit of my story.
Sharing a little more—not because I want pity, but because I think it's important that you understand what is happening. You may see me sitting in my little kitchen, cooking, smiling, serving food and trying to make everything look easy. But the truth is… it isn't always easy. GooDoo Bowl has one of the smallest kitchens in Johnson City—and we don't even have gas! Somehow, I continue to make everything from scratch, create new dishes, serve our guests and keep this little dream moving forward.
But I'm also doing all of this while dealing with a challenging situation. I have lost both & live with metallosis, and now my right hip has collapsed needing a complete right hip revision Awaiting surgery date. I could show you pictures of what has happened to my implants and what my body has been through—but I'm going to spare everyone the horror movie. What I do want you to see is the person who continues to get up every day and show up. I don't let this define me. I continue to work, because GooDoo Bowl isn't just a restaurant to me. It is something I built with my heart, my hands and a whole lot of determination.
But right now, I have to acknowledge that my body needs something from me too. So if you've noticed that I'm moving a little slower…
If your food takes a little longer…
If I don't come over to your table to say hello…
If you don't get one of my usual hugs…
Don’t take it personally. My heart still wants to hug everybody. However, my hip has officially said: “Absolutely not.” And this is where I need you. When I have surgery, I am hoping and praying that GooDoo Bowl can stay open. Your support right now means more than I can put into words. If you're able, please consider ordering take-out, sharing our posts, telling a friend about us, coming by for a meal, or simply continuing to support this little restaurant.
I am not asking anyone to feel sorry for me. I've been through too much to let that be my story. I'm asking for your understanding, patience, & compassion. And most of all, I'm asking you to show up for GooDoo Bowl while I navigate this next chapter. One order. One share. One visit. One kind word at a time.
