WHAT A SURPRISE!
Sometimes the best compliments come when you aren’t expecting them!
A few weeks ago, an author named Lloyd “Pete” Waters and his friend Sharon stopped by The Doggie Wagon while visiting Jim Thorpe. We struck up a great conversation over some hot dogs, and I had no idea at the time that our conversation — or their experience at the stand — would eventually become part of his story.
I recently received a signed copy of Pete’s book, Dargan Boy: Reflections of My Journey, along with an article he wrote about his visit to Jim Thorpe and The Doggie Wagon.
To see The Doggie Wagon, our little hot dog stand, and our town included in his story was a wonderful and unexpected surprise.
Pete, thank you for taking the time to stop by, for the great conversation, and especially for sharing your experience with others…..and a thank you to Sharon as well for making the visit such a memorable one.

This really made our day and makes what we do, all the more special, and worthwhile when the times get tough.
Quite a compliment coming from a man who simply stopped by for a hot dog, but has traveled the world!
We’re proud to be part of Jim Thorpe’s history and even prouder when visitors take a little piece of our town with them when they leave.
