Opened in 2002 as The Video Underground, The VU initially sought to offer an alternative to the more traditional and mainstream world of Blockbuster-style video stores, which -- oddly enough -- don't really exist anymore. Today, The VU specializes in independent, cult and foreign films, while still bringing in new releases, time-honored classics, and everything in between. Whether it's a tea, coff

ee, or espresso drink, we've got you covered and then some. Additionally, The VU is one of a very small number of coffee roasters operating with the City of Boston. We roast, sell, and serve a variety of beans (both single origin and blend) in an effort to match our offerings with a breadth of tastes and preparation methods. Ultimately, we are dedicated to creating and maintaining a cinema cafe that reflects the tastes and interests of the Jamaica Plain neighborhood community, the city of Boston, and -- most importantly -- our amazing customers.
