The Anniston Police Department is warning the public about a scam involving fake court documents claiming you have unpaid traffic violations. These notices may look official and include: court seals and case numbers, threats of license suspension or legal action, instructions to scan a QR code or click a link to make immediate payment, etc.

Courts do not demand payment through QR codes or unsolicited links. If you receive one of these notices do not scan the QR code, send payments, or click any links.

Any time you are unsure if you have an outstanding case or balance, verify directly with the court using an official phone number.

We encourage everyone to share this post to help protect others in our community.

Stay alert and always verify before you act.
