Leona's Kitchen Down home country cooking like grandma used to make! Leona was the mother of 14 children. Leona Crenshaw married Johnnie Powell; a share cropper from Alabama.

The matriarch the family who ruled with a loving heart and a strong hand. Johnnie’s Parents were freed slaves who became sharecroppers on the same land that they were born on. Johnnie was a hardworking man, who instilled the same values into his children. He worked enough as a sharecropper to eventually buy the land and the “big house.”

and Leona took care of town and home. While all the boys learned to farm, all the girls were taught Leona’s special brand of love-filled cooking. A Christian woman, Leona cooked for the home as well as the church. When people came over, which was often, everyone seemed to congregate in the epicenter of love: the kitchen. We are honored, and can only hope to bring you that same sense of home in “Leona’s Kitchen”
