Let’s Meet the Staff! Today we’re chatting with a legend behind the bar and on the mountain, Matt.
Q: Where are you from?
A: Huntsville, Alabama.
Q: How long have you lived in Jackson?
A: 21 years.
Q: What is your role at Local?
A: Bartender.
Q: What is your favorite drink or dish on the menu right now?
A: Definitely the Teton margarita and the Philly cheesesteak. I add peppers and jalapeños.
Q: Winter or Summer?
A: Both. I moved here for the Winter and fell in love with the Summer.
Q: What are your favorite Winter and Summer activities?
A: Skiing, backpacking, climbing, mountain biking. Everything outside.
Q: What is the first dish you remember loving?
A: Poppy seed chicken; it’s a dish my mom always made growing up. They’re up here in Jackson all the time in the summer, and til this day, when my Mom asks what I want for dinner, I say poppy seed chicken.
Q: What is your go-to dish to make at home?
A: Shoot, I guess steak or a burger! When I’m cooking steak, I like the leaner cuts like tenderloin.
Q: Favorite movie?
A: I love a good comedy, like Zoolander or Super Troopers.
Q: What is one thing you always keep in your fridge at home?
A: Milk.
Q: What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten?
A: In life, if you don’t risk anything, you risk everything.
