The Dragon Seed was proudly featured in the new exhibit at the Louis Armstrong House and Museum in Corona.
If you haven’t visited the Jazz legend’s house you are missing something very special. It’s like stepping back in time to the late 1970’s. The House and its contents are mostly unchanged since 1983.
Louis and his wife Lucille, who purchased the house on 107th Street in 1943 were friends and patrons of the Dragon Seed. Lucille who drove her blue Cadillac to the restaurant shared many meals there in between Louis signing autographs and conversing with the locals.
The Corona Collection exhibit features testimonials from neighbors who grew up with Uncle Satchmo and Aunt Lucille.
Armstrong is quoted as saying how the lyrics of What a Wonderful World meant to him the children and folks of the neighborhood and the close community they all shared with Corona.
My family enjoyed a post concert meal at the Dragon Seed on 86th Street. It’s a very festive and delicious Colombian restaurant now.
Thank you Mr.&Mrs. Armstrong!
