This is one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to write.
After pouring our blood, sweat, tears, time, and finances into Treviño’s Craft Smokehouse since 2020, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to close our doors.
And the truth is—we didn’t want to.
When we were faced with the decision to move our family in March in an effort to rebuild financially, we could have closed then. Honestly, it probably would have been the wiser financial decision. But we weren’t ready to let go.
We made the decision to keep Treviño’s going because we wanted to give it a real chance to survive. We wanted to continue providing jobs for the people who had worked alongside us. We wanted to continue serving the community.
So we kept going.
For six more months.
But during those six months, sales continued to decline, and the financial burden tied to the restaurant continued to grow. We have reached a point where continuing to keep the doors open means continuing to put our own family further into debt.
And as painful as it is to say, we can’t continue to save the business at the expense of our family.
We have always wanted to take care of our people. We have always wanted to contribute to our community. We have always believed in giving people opportunities and creating something that was bigger than just a restaurant.
But sometimes loving something means knowing when you have to let it go.
We are incredibly grateful for every person who has worked for us, supported us, shared a meal with us, brought their families through our doors, ordered catering, recommended us to a friend, liked a post, shared a video, or simply cheered us on over the years.
You helped make Treviño’s what it was.
There are memories, friendships, lessons, and moments from these years that we will carry with us for the rest of our lives. We will always be proud of what we built—even if the ending looks very different than the one we dreamed about.
This has been a difficult season for our family in more ways than we can put into words. We don’t know exactly what the road ahead looks like, or how long it will take to recover financially from everything we have poured into this business.
But we do know this:
God has carried us this far, and we trust Him to carry us through what comes next.
We are going to pray for the strength to rebuild. To rebuild financially. To rebuild our lives. To take everything we have learned through this experience and use it to create something new when the time is right.
We may be closing the doors to Treviño’s, but we are not giving up.
We are blessed beyond measure with a beautiful family, and right now, our greatest responsibility is taking care of them. We will remain steadfast in our faith, trust the path God has laid out for us, and believe that even when we can’t understand the why, there is still a purpose in the journey.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for being part of ours.
Thank you for believing in Treviño’s.
Thank you for believing in us.
And thank you for being there through the fight.
With love and gratitude,
Dustin & Sara ❤️🩹
