Some reviews make us proud of the food. Some make us proud of our service. And then there are reviews like this one that just make us proud of our people. 💙

If you’ve been around Rodney’s for a while, you probably know Dom. He’s one of our favorite take-out guys, and he has quite literally grown up at Rodney’s. So when someone takes the time to send us a message like this about the young man he has become, it hits a little differently. ❤️

A customer sent us this:

⭐️ “Just wanted to send a message to say that the young man answering the to-go line last night (at pickup I confirmed he was the one that took my phone order) was the sweetest, kindest, and most polite guy. I didn’t get his name, but I told him how much I appreciated his kindness and overall demeanor.

He was honestly so humble that he seemed almost embarrassed to accept the kind words haha. I’m an educator who works with teens and it’s rare to come across a young man like this.

Our family loves Rodney’s for your food and unmatched service, but this guy was just above and beyond and deserved to be recognized.” 💗

Well…that young man has a name. That’s our Dom. 🥹💙

And yes, the part about him being almost embarrassed to accept the compliment sounds exactly like him. 😂

There’s something incredibly special about watching a kid grow up around this restaurant and then seeing our customers recognize the kindness, humility and character we’ve had the privilege of watching develop over the years.

Dom, we’re proud of you. Not just because you did your job well, but because you treated someone with such genuine kindness that they went out of their way afterward to make sure we knew about it.

Great service can be taught. Genuine kindness comes from who you are.

We’re pretty lucky to have Dom as part of the Rodney’s family. 💙👏

Some people have a way of making a room feel warmer just by walking into it.

That’s Millie.

Today we have the incredible privilege of wishing Rodney’s mom a very Happy 98th Birthday. 🎂

To our customers, she may be the sweet lady behind the homemade rice pudding that has become such a special part of Rodney’s. But to our family and our staff, Millie is so much more.

She is the heart of the Rodney family.

She is kindness. She is gentleness. She is encouragement. She is the kind of person who makes you feel loved simply by being around her.

Whenever Millie comes into the restaurant, something changes. People stop to hug her. Employees gather around to talk to her. Faces light up. And no matter how busy or stressful the day may have been, somehow everyone feels a little better after spending a few minutes with her.

There aren’t many people in this world who can have that kind of effect on others simply by walking through the door.

But Millie does. ❤️

For 98 years, she has been loving people, caring for her family, sharing her kindness and leaving pieces of herself in the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.

And how blessed are we that some of those 98 years — and some of that love — have become part of the story of Rodney’s Restaurant.

The rice pudding may be one of the things she gives us, but Millie herself is the real gift.

🇺🇸❤️ This Labor Day, Rodney’s Will Be Closed ❤️🇺🇸

If you follow our page, you know how much we love recognizing the people who work at Rodney’s. We share their stories, celebrate their milestones, and brag on them whenever we get the chance.

But today, we want to recognize all of them together.

When you own a restaurant, you spend a lot of your life with the people who work beside you. You see them on the crazy busy nights when there doesn’t seem to be a free table in the building. You see them stay late, come in early, cover for each other, help without being asked, and somehow keep smiling when they’re exhausted.

You also get to know them beyond Rodney’s.

You hear about their kids and families. You celebrate weddings, babies, graduations and new adventures. You watch young employees grow up. You see people who started as coworkers become friends—and, over time, become family. ❤️

That’s why our employee recognition posts mean so much to us. These aren’t just the people who work for Rodney’s. These are people we genuinely care about.

And we know how much they give to this restaurant.

So this Labor Day, Rodney’s will be CLOSED.

Our crew spends so many weekends, evenings and holidays taking care of other families. We want them to have this day to be with their own families, enjoy some time away from work, and know just how much we appreciate everything they do.

To our Rodney’s crew—thank you for showing up for us, for our customers and for each other. Thank you for caring about this place and helping make Rodney’s feel like home to so many people.

We hope you know that we notice what you do, we appreciate you, and most importantly, we’re grateful you’re part of our family. ❤️

❤️ **We know the last couple of days have been a lot for our community.**

After the storms came through, so many of our friends, families, customers, and neighbors found themselves without power — and we know some of you are **still waiting for it to come back on.** We’ve been right there with you, waiting for things to get back to normal.

Thankfully, we have some good news to share from Rodney’s today! 🙌

⚡ **Our power is back on.**
☎️ **Our phones are working.**
🍝 **Our kitchen is up and running.**
❤️ **And we are OPEN and ready to take care of you today!**

If you’re still without power and need somewhere to sit down, cool off, charge up a little, and have a hot meal — come spend some time with us. And if your power is back but you’ve had enough excitement for one week and don’t feel like cooking, we completely understand that too. 😂

We’re incredibly thankful to the linemen, utility crews, first responders, road crews, and everyone who has been working around the clock to get our communities back up and running.

Most of all, we’re thankful that we can open our doors today and be here for the community that has supported Rodney’s for so many years.

Our phones may be down for the moment, but WE ARE OPEN!!!

We are so happy to be able to open our doors to serve the community today with all of the power outages we know everyone is experiencing in the Irwin area. We understand the difficulties last night’s storms caused and respectfully ask that those visiting us today will keep there sit times shorter to accommodate everyone that comes in today. As always we love our customers and are always so appreciative of your understanding and willingness to help others. ❤️

❤️ A Little Lyndsay Appreciation Post ❤️

We love when our customers take the time to recognize the people who help make Rodney’s what it is, and lately, our waitress Lyndsay has received some pretty wonderful mentions in our Google reviews.

Lyndsay has been part of the Rodney’s family for 3½ years, and the story of how she ended up here makes us appreciate her even more.

When she first started at Rodney’s, it was meant to be a second job. She was working full-time and wanted to earn some extra money to help pay for her upcoming wedding. 💍

The wedding has long since passed, but Lyndsay never left. ❤️

She continued working her second job at Rodney’s for one simple reason—she loves the Rodney’s family she found here.

And we’re certainly glad she stayed.

Recently, one of her customers wrote:

⭐ “We had an awesome time at Rodney’s! All of their food is soooo good! I got the Reuben Sandwich, which was excellent, and the fries with it were so good too!
