A letter from my 22 year old daughter...

To everyone at Britta's,

When my Mom first told me that she was closing Britta’s Cafe, I felt, as many of you might have, that a part of my heart was leaving forever. I have never been without the restaurant and parting with it seemed like an unimaginable change. But then I remembered the one thing that makes the restaurant so special… it’s my Mom. That is when I realized that although we are saying goodbye to Britta’s Cafe, the hard-working redhead will still be with us. And if you know her like I do, we know that her work is far from done and her next chapter will be just as grand as the past twenty-six years have been.
So, I am writing to thank everyone who has been a part of Britta’s Cafe and especially those who have become my second family. Thank you for watching me grow up, for teaching me valuable lessons, and for shaping some of my most cherished memories. Thank you for supporting my Mom throughout the past twenty-six years – for being her customer, her employee, her friendly face, and most importantly, her friend. The extraordinary love and respect that have been expressed towards her during the past couple weeks will be something that I will remember forever.
Mom, I am so proud of you. I feel so lucky to be able to call you my role model, my best friend, and my amazing mother. I can only hope that one day I will be so dearly loved by so many in the way that you are today.

I will miss my aunt's restaurant so much...many of the memories from my visits from Italy every summer are part of this restaurant: all of our family dinners, birthday parties and much more..
I will miss all of the waiters and all of the customers that create a big family and such a nice environment to spend time in. I've always seen my aunt so busy and working so hard, never taking time off, but I know she always loved it so much and that makes a great example for me, as a young girl.
Aunt Britta I really loved your restaurant but I know you're going to do great in whatever you decide to do when its closed.

Justin has been with us for almost a year now. Justin came across Britta’s four years ago when he was a student at UCI. Although he asked for an application then, he didn’t turn it in until he was graduated. He says that it was his “best decision of my professional career.”
When asked what he was going to miss about Britta’s he replied: “The staff. Robin being stressed on Sundays, Britta saving my butt on dinner shifts, one million dogs on 400 patio, the scones on the weekends, Matt maintaining calm at all times, Danny talking to all of our customers, Kayli enabling my stupid humor, Raquel’s red pants and assertive energy, Asher’s jokes, Claudia stealing the coffee pot, Cassie getting to my tables before I can, Laura dancing across the restaurant, Taylor taking an hour and a day to make my veggie cassoulet, the seafood stew that I always eat, the Flash aka Andrew who makes salads in 0.02 seconds. The Kitchen – Pedro, Lorenzo, etc! The bread! And most of all, every dear moment that I’ve spent with all of the amazing people.”
