A heartfelt thank-you to 100+ Men Who Care: Hawkeye Chapter for their extraordinarily generous gift to Agape Cafe!

We were honored to welcome members of the chapter as they presented their remarkable 4-foot-long check—a wonderful symbol of the very real difference their support will make. This donation helps Agape continue providing welcoming meals, nourishment, and community to our neighbors.

Our kitchen volunteers were also proud to stand behind the check and celebrate this meaningful partnership. Their work, along with the generosity of supporters like 100+ Men Who Care Hawkeye, makes every meal possible.

Thank you to every chapter member for caring so deeply about our community and for investing in the mission of Agape Cafe. We are truly grateful!

100+ thank yous to Lara Marsh and 100+ Women Who Care: Hawkeye Chapter!! Lara nominated the Agape Cafe at their summer meeting, gave the pitch and Agape is the grateful recipient of their good work - $6,200!!

This gift reflects something powerful: when individuals come together and pool their resources, the collective impact becomes far greater than any one person could accomplish alone. That same spirit is at the heart of Agape Cafe. Each week, volunteers, donors, community partners, and guests come together to make sure our neighbors have a meal and know they are not alone.

Your gift will help us continue offering food and fellowship in a welcoming space for all. It is a tangible expression of care that will reach many people—one meal, one conversation, and one connection at a time.

With gratitude, the Agape Cafe Community

Looking for a way to volunteer with the Cafe but can’t always work our hours into your schedule? 📆

We have an opportunity that you can do on your own time!

We are in need of a generous volunteer to launder the table cloths, linens and kitchen towels we use weekly at the cafe! 🧺

Ranges from 2-4 loads a week (less at a laundry mat!) and would need to be picked up from the cafe, washed, dried, folded, and brought back by the following Tuesday!

We are so grateful for all the support and hope someone feels drawn to this unique volunteer opportunity!

Please reach out with interest or questions!

St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church, thank you so much for your generosity in awarding the Café a $1,500 grant through your Peace and Justice Committee.

Thank you as well for the kind words sent with the donation:

“May God bless you and your organization. Your work provides nourishment, hospitality and a welcoming space for all, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those you serve. We are grateful for your compassion and dedication to our community “

Gifts like this from local faith communities make a real, immediate difference in what we’re able to offer our guests each week.

If your congregation or faith community is looking for a meaningful way to support food security and hospitality in downtown Iowa City, we would love to partner with you—through financial gifts, volunteers, or in-kind support for our Wednesday morning meals.
