Prairie Lights Cafe is part of the legendary independent bookstore Prairie Lights, which has been an Iowa City landmark since 1978. The cafe proper is an 1100 square foot space, with an intriguing history. A local literary society met within the same walls throughout the 1930's, hosting writers Robert Frost, Sherwood Anderson, Langston Hughes, Carl Sandburg, and ee Cummings among others. Reportedl

Good news, the Cafe is extending it's hours on weekdays, which gives y'all an extra hour to study, drink and hang with us.

We will now be open from 9am-7pm monday - Friday.

We will close still close at 6 on Saturday and Sunday.

Hello! Just wanted to let you all know that the Prairie Lights Cafe will be opened from 10a-5pm on Wednesday 2/9 and Thursday 2/10. After that we will go back to normal hours, 9a-6p. Sorry for any inconvenience!!

WE ARE HIRING!

Never made a post like this before, but if you are interested in working as a barista at the Prairie Lights Cafe, send us a resume! We are looking to hire one part time position, 2-3 shifts a week.

Barista experience is appreciated but not required. If you want to work at a busy cafe, with competitive pay, great tips, and a laid back work culture, get ahold of us!
