🌟 Inwood Club Spotlight: Inwood GEMS 🌟

The GEMS Girls Club has been around for over 60 years. In my mom's generation, it was known as Calvinettes. I'm not exactly sure when the Inwood club was established, but it has to be close to 60 years.

GEMS stands for **Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior**. Each meeting, we ask the girls, "GEMS, what does the Lord require of us?" and they respond, "To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with our God." – Micah 6:8

We meet together for a time of Praise & Worship, dive into a scripture-based lesson, and gather in small groups to discuss it further. We then work on a craft that reinforces the lesson or teaches the girls a new skill.

Girls in 3rd–8th grade are invited to participate. We meet on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday nights, September through April, at the Inwood Christian Reformed Church from 7–9 p.m. Our kick-off meeting for this year will be Wednesday, September 23.

We usually choose a service project each year. The last couple of years, we have participated in Operation Christmas Child and filled shoeboxes in November to be sent around the world.

Faces of Inwood: Meet Bill and Pam Groeneweg

For more than three decades, we have called Inwood home. We first moved to Inwood in the fall of 1989, purchasing a home on Church Street. In 1992, we settled into our current rural Inwood home on Coolidge Ave. We are the proud parents of three children—Alex (Hattie), Kyle (Abby), and Kate (Jeremy) - and are blessed with four grandchildren: Vivy, Della, Karter, and Mae.

We have spent our years in Inwood starting and continuing our business, BGL Livestock Trucking. We value both fellowship and opportunities to serve at First Reformed Church. There are also so many other ways to be involved in this community. Over the years, we have been involved with the Summer Recreation Program, West Lyon Booster Club, coaching various youth sports, Library Board, Manna Market Board, and Sanford-Inwood Area Health Foundation Board. It has been a joy working alongside others!

What makes Inwood so special is its people. We appreciate the close-knit connections that make the community feel like family—where neighbors support one another, friendships span generations, and helping hands are always close by. After more than 35 years, we remain grateful and blessed to call Inwood home.

Bjorn is still missing. Thank you everyone who has sent in leads and have been searching and sharing, it means a lot!

$350 REWARD PLEASE HELP US BRING BJÖRN HOME! We are still desperately searching for our cat. He is an orange and white tabby with an all-white belly. He requires a special veterinary prescription food and needs to come home.

We are willing to offer a $350 reward for his return! Please check your garages, decks, bushes, sheds, porches and yards.
