Things are moving right ahead.

Happy Monday all!

Big changes are happening sooner than previously reported. (July 20)

It looks like MDOT will complete the shift to phase 3 of the project. They will be redoing the road surface, changing some grade issues and adding a center turn lane from Interlochen Corners to Reynolds Road in Benzie County.

***East bound traffic will be detoured at Reynolds Road***

They will maintain the (West or South) bound traffic but there will only be one lane of road that is passable as the rip up the current road, improve the road base and repave.

Please drive with caution in the Construction Zone, the Detour Routes (official and unofficial). You are feeling the inconvenience for a short period the people living there are dealing with the inconvenience 24 hours a day through the entire project.

We are in the final stretch, phase 3, should be complete in November.

What can I say? We finally made it to the Hammered Heifer last night, and WOW, what an awesome place. First night with the liquor license active and the great bar space open!
We grabbed a seat at the long table in the sun-soaked courtyard, it didn’t take long for the table to be full of friends, old and new. Great atmosphere, great conversations, and live music to top it off.

The staff went above and beyond for me. They paused service, thoroughly cleaned the area and the grill, and cooked only my food to keep me safe with my celiac. That level of care meant so much and is seriously appreciated.

Was the food any good? HELL YES. They absolutely smashed it out of the park with these smash burgers. Perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and just all round fantastic, you know we don’t say that lightly. Honestly, it was all downright delicious.

We had a wicket time and had to share. If you’re craving a smash burger, GO CHECK THEM OUT… Easily the best in Benzie.
Thanks for creating such an awesome spot so close to home.

Memorial day, today we take time for a pause to remember, to carry forward the memory of the sacrifices made by those who served and gave so much for our country.

We thank you!

Here at the Depot, we’re reminded how meaningful it is to nurture and preserve what has been planted and growing before us. The vegetation we transplanted last year has taken root, and the colorful, beautiful blooms of Honesty now line the roadside in full bloom! Just a quiet little reminder of growth, resilience, and remembrance.

We’ve been continuing our work here for preservation. We are replanting and transplanting, caring for this space so it grow and bloom. There’s more ahead this summer, and we look forward to sharing it with you soon.

However, today, we simply wish you a meaningful Memorial Day. May we all take a moment to reflect, remember, and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Happy Saturday, everyone!

We’re aware of the tree that came down at the front of the property and will be cleaning it up over the next few days. Huge thank you to the team for their quick response during the storm and for keeping everyone safe! We appreciate you!

We also have some preventive maintenance planned for early spring and late summer in the nature preserve to support healthy growth and regeneration. Plus, more native plantings are coming soon to help restore natural beauty and support local wildlife.

While we’re not open just yet, don’t forget: Interlochen businesses are open and absolutely worth the detour. Go show them some love!
