Meet Damián Bolaños.
Damián’s journey in coffee is a masterclass in perseverance. For over 20 years, he and his family made the grueling daily trek from town to their farm, starting at 6 a.m. and hiking for hours through the mountains just to begin work. It wasn’t until 2015 that they were finally able to move onto the land at Finca Buena Vista, building their own small processing plant from the ground up.
What makes Damián special is his curiosity. After years of working in agricultural marketing and coffee exporting, he brought all that technical knowledge back to his family’s land. Today, he’s not just a producer; he’s also a skilled sample roaster, giving him a unique perspective on exactly what it takes to make a coffee shine on the cupping table.
The Coffee:
This is a classic, beautifully executed Washed Caturra. Grown between 1850 - 1900 masl, the cherries undergo a double fermentation process—15-18 hours in cherry followed by 36-38 hours of dry fermentation after depulping. The result is a clean, vibrant cup that reflects the high-altitude terroir of Huila.
