Look who’s making a cameo appearance tonight at dinner! It’s Laura *and* Monroe! Just like the old days. Open from 5 until 10 or we run out of food.

There’s no easy way to say this, so I’m just going to say it. Three Carrots will be closing. Our last service will be Sunday, October 1. The reasons are boring and the same as everyone else: eventually the numbers stop adding up, the bills start stacking up, and, no matter your best efforts, you can’t dig your way out of it.

I don’t really know what else to say. This is the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make. I am proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish over these last 10 years. Our staff, past and present, has always worked hard to create a welcoming and inclusive environments that treats people with respect and compassion. I’m proud of the culture we were able to create. I’m proud of the food we made. I’m proud that we helped legitimize vegan food in a city that had pretty sparse options beforehand. I’m proud that we were able to help foster a diverse community of patrons and guests who have helped keep us afloat during shaky times. I’m proud of the work we did and the effort we put into making this place great day in and day out.

Unfortunately, the day to day realities make operating a restaurant extremely difficult. And it seemed like no matter where we cut costs, more costs added on. Eventually things piled up to a point where we couldn’t make it out.

From the deepest part of my heart, I want to thank all of our wonderful guests for letting me do this for the past decade. It’s been a pleasure and an honor.

We will be open normal hours for this week and next. So if you wanna come in one last time, this is your chance to do so.

It’s officially chilled soup season! This week we got gazpacho! It’s tomato and cucumber juice base with jalapeños, avocados, red onion, green onion, and cilantro and served with tortilla chips.

It’s what my dad used to make for cookouts and still one of my favorite soups of all time. Come get some!

Over the past few years we have been reluctant to do too much in order to celebrate Pride Month, especially through our business social media accounts. It’s not that we don’t believe in being an inclusive and welcoming space; if anything it was the opposite. In the world of giant national brands jumping on rainbow flags and Pride™️ merch, it felt a bit hollow and cynical to use Pride as a marketing event.

But this past year it feels different. From the relentless attacks on trans people and bodily autonomy in state governments; to the stochastic terrorist networks harassing drag shows; to the chud movement of loser dudes breaking toys at Target, it feels more important than ever that we stand up against these agents of hate and affirm to our LGBTQ+ friends that we’re on their side.

So happy Pride. Be gay. Be q***r. Be trans. Be seen. Eat some vegetables, if you want. We’ll be here with open arms.
