Fall Into Balance at Douglass
Today was one of those days that reminds us why we love this work.
Our seniors joined us for Fall Into Balance, an interactive Lunch & Learn centered around five simple areas of healthy aging: hydration, garden-fresh foods, protein, movement, and meaningful connection.
But there was very little sitting and listening today! We turned nutrition education into our Fall Harvest Challenge, where seniors worked in teams answering nutrition questions, playing Fact or Foolery, testing their memory, moving, laughing, and competing for points. The room was FULL of participation! 🍎🎃
And, of course, we learned through the food.
Today’s garden-inspired lunch featured creamy Gouda chicken pasta with Brussels sprouts, tomatoes, sweet peppers, onions, and garlic. We used the ingredients on their plates to explore vitamins, protein, fiber, hydration, and how nourishing foods can still be flavorful, familiar, and enjoyable.
What made today special wasn’t simply the information shared. It was watching our seniors use it. They remembered what they learned, encouraged their teammates, asked questions, laughed together, moved their bodies, and shared a meal around the table.
This is what Flavorbyfaith’s NAE Method: Nutrition • Appreciate • Elevate looks like in action. We are creating spaces where food becomes a tool for education, connection, confidence, and healthier communities.
