We are sad to say that Duos will close forever after lunch tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 25. Over the last few months, we’ve witnessed the dominoes of near and dear restaurants falling, afraid that we would join them—but hopeful, because that’s who we are. But we’ve finally had to face the reality that because of the pandemic and our inept government, staying open is no longer an option. We'd hoped we could give you more notice, but unfortunately, closing after lunch tomorrow made the most sense.

We’re devastated. We're also angry, on our own behalf and for the many more small businesses who aren’t going to survive into a post-pandemic world.

Becky will have more to say soon, once we get past this awful milestone, about her gratitude for the deeply loved and talented Duos crew, our kind and understanding landlords, and all of you. It has been our great honor to feed you over the last 10 years.

Please come visit us tomorrow. Becky, David, and John desperately wish to see and thank you. We have food and T-shirts to sell.

On this, the last day of summer, everyone should allow themselves a giant pause, eat a meal outside picnic-style, and feel the warmth on our faces. There will certainly be warm Autumn days, but it seems important to mark the change of seasons with a moment of reflection and appreciation. And then move forward with hope that all shall be well and all shall be well and all manner of things shall be well.

Music is an important part of a restaurant’s daily flow, from back in the kitchen to front of house. We tend to gravitate towards beats you can dance to and lyrics you can sing along with. How many of you have been song-bombed by Stevie Wonder playing while you’re grabbing your drinks or paying? Although classic r&b is our normal go-to, today has a bit more of a new wave/pop feeling. Maybe it’s because Fall is nigh? Or because it’s Thursday? Or just because reasons. Anyway.

In the meantime, we still want to provide healthy yummy meals for larger groups for things like meetings, family dinners, socially distanced Get Out the Vote gatherings, and things of that nature. You might not be able to see the smiles, but you know they’re there. It’s a little odd, but working at Duos alongside the talented, kooky, creative, and energetic Duos Teamlers inspires a kind of “whistle while you work” situation. Anyone who has worked in food service knows the levels of camaraderie that develop in a restaurant. It goes deep, including everything from laughter to squabbles, just like a family.
