Apocalypse Burger will be smashing its last burger on Saturday, March 9th.
Born out of the Pandemic, as a sign of life in the face of worldwide gloom, Apocalypse Burger opened its doors in July of 2020. What was meant to be a short-term pop-up created to combat our collective Pandemic depression (we like serving customers and being with people) lasted a lot longer than any of us planned. Why? Because of you, our wonderful customers and incredible staff (maybe not the one who literally as in LITERALLY caused a dumpster fire).
I remember the family zoom on March 20th that inspired this restaurant and the call I made to key members of our Won’t Stop Inc. team a few weeks after we closed shop due to governmental mandates. The call where I said, “let’s open a new restaurant but one that embraces an unknown future”. I mean, we didn’t even know that there would be a future in March of 2020. For all we knew, we were in an actual Apocalypse.
On opening night (carryout only, of course), we posted “it’s called a soft opening, doesn’t mean there won’t be complete chaos, destruction and anarchy”. What was intended as a short run to create some jobs and a little much needed cash flow allowed us to vent about the utter unknown of it all. Namaste to being resilient.
But in 2024, it’s a post-Apocalyptic world. We survived. Now we need to deploy our resources, human and financial, in the direction of our pre-Pandemic plan: continuing to grow the mother brand slowly and strategically. Café Patachou is taking over the world, within reason. We aren’t tech bros with self-funded rockets after all.
Thanks to all who made Apocalypse Burger possible. We look forward to more pop ups, future concept-testing, and special guest appearances in this space. I leave with one last bit of snark: how the f*ck does Wahlburger’s stay in business?
