Troubadour Songwriter Night…Tonight.

From whenceforth comes a song?

For the singer songwriter…for the troubadour, life experience is the paint spread across the canvas that becomes a song.

Tonight at 317 Burger, Just Ryan will share one of her newest creations.

Silk.

This song title evokes rich imagery…

The genesis of this song is both subconscious and conscious…Ryan had a dream where she couldn’t speak and was tied up, but…

“When I finally could speak, it was the first verse to the song…I woke up and immediately started to work on it.”

As she further noted, the song is about coming home to a partner…“(In the) earlier stages of a relationship when you think about them a lot throughout the day.”

A lot of Ryan’s music lately has been inspired by the indie singer Aldous Harding. Between Harding’s whimsy and breezy feels, and by…

“…revisiting North Carolina early this year and how it feels to be out in nature. Mountains, wind, and water.”

Color me intrigued.

Can’t wait to hear the depth of that imagery and inspiration in…

And that’s just one part of tonight’s lineup. Tim Brickley hosts, with Just Ryan and Andrew Brozek — a multi-instrumentalist songwriter who, as I understand it, has some new songs of his own to share.

The story behind the owls (part two): We have long held that naming a bar/restaurant is harder than it seems. Boats, horses, rock albums ... child's play. Naming a place that you want to last for decades, requires a non-trendy nature to the moniker. Not easy to find a handle that is subtle while not opaque.
