These are the best foods to snack on for maximum brain power (from avid snack lovers & dietitians).

🥑 Call us boring but avocado toast and adding avocados to smoothies is still delicious and nourishing.

🔵 Snack on blueberries as is or and add them to yogurt or oatmeal.

🥜 Try adding walnuts to your trail mix for extra crunch (and better cognitive function).

🌱 Crisp up some cooked lentils and toss them in your fave spices for a fun, crunchy snack.

🟣 Make a roasted beet hummus and munch away with whole wheat crackers or vegetables

🟡 Add turmeric to your smoothies or eggs for a dose of curcurmin, an anti-inflammatory.

☕ Drink a cup of coffee with a milk of your choice for caffeine and antioxidants.

🍫 Enjoy a chunk from a dark chocolate bar (70% or more cacao content) to improve attentiveness.

🥜 A (fun) trail mix (we're not skimping on dried fruit or those yummy yogurt bites)
🥔 Chips and dip, and it's up to you what the chips and dip are
🌾 Granola bar. We know you exist otherwise we wouldn't sell so many...
🥪 Just a lil' sandwich with whatever fillings float your boat
🍎 One whole fruit. It HAS to be whole unlike the illustration we chose to represent it.
🫑 This is basically chips and dip, but vegetables and hummus.
🧊 A cold smoothie. (Why would you want a warm one? We're not sure, but it isn't an option!)
🍿 Fresh popcorn. It HAS to be fresh.
🫐 A fun yogurt parfait with fruit and granola.

Wake up! Snacks aren't cancelled! 🗣️

The truth is that snacking isn't "bad" and eating small meals or bites throughout the day is completely normal around the world! Snacking can provide you with the energy you need to stay focused.

Not all snacks will give you the same energy, though, so stick to something that satisfies by keeping these tips to build your next nourishing nosh in mind:
1️⃣ Listen to your body's natural hunger cues such as low energy, brain fog, a growling stomach, or a headache.
2️⃣ Start with whole foods like fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grains, and eggs and build from there.
3️⃣ Eat a mix of protein, fiber, and fat. Aim for two of three in any snack for a power combo that gives you the satisfaction and energy you need. Ideas include apples with a nut butter or a hard-boiled egg with fruit or vegetables.
4️⃣ Pick packaged foods with the same principles. Choose items that are mostly whole food-based like dried chickpeas, beet chips, or whole-grain crackers.
5️⃣ Snacks don't have to look a certain way. Munch on something that sounds good to you like leftovers or a small sandwich or think outside the box with half an avocado with salsa on top or a roasted sweet potato with a nut butter.

Happy summer break, Bulldogs! Technically, it’s still spring, so we’re squeezing every last bit of fresh-air energy out of the season. 🌻

Here’s what’s on our spring-into-summer bucket list:

✔️ Go for a walk a few times a week
✔️ Plant a small garden, or even just a single herb
✔️ Take a fitness class
✔️ Read under your favorite tree 🌳
✔️ Stop scrolling and go outside. Let this post be your sign.
✔️ Eat breakfast every morning
✔️ Skip meat once a week
✔️ Soak up some sunshine, but don’t skip the sunscreen ☀️
✔️ Have a picnic with friends, bonus points if you bring a big jar of pickles
✔️ Eat more fruits and vegetables, for fibermaxxing reasons

A-Town Café renovations are underway, but meal plans remain active through the end of finals. Midtown Provisions will serve as the central dining hub from breakfast on Saturday, May 2 through dinner on Tuesday, May 5. All meal plans, including Flex Dollars, expire after dinner on Tuesday, May 5, so be sure to use them before the semester wraps up.

Good luck on finals, Dawgs. Let’s finish the semester strong!

Bon Appétit Management Company is stopping food waste today. (And everyday!) 🙅‍♂️

ICYMI: Food that ends up in landfills releases methane, a greenhouse gas 20 to 25 times more powerful than carbon dioxide. That's why we participate in Stop Food Waste Day, a globally recognized day of action aimed at raising awareness around the impact of wasted food.

But fighting food waste isn't just a single day occurrence at Bon Appétit! Since 2007, fighting waste has been central to how we operate. We prevent waste by
🍳 Cooking from scratch in small batches,
🌱 Embracing stem-to-root and snout-to-tail techniques, and
🍽️ Designing our cafés to encourage mindful portions and informed choices.

All Bon Appétit accounts are committed to tracking food waste using Waste Not™, our proprietary, chef-driven waste tracking system. We capture real-time data on the quantity, cause, and destination of food waste, letting our teams make informed adjustments that prevent waste before it occurs.

We also partner with local food recovery organizations to redirect surplus food to community members experiencing food insecurity.

By addressing waste from field to plate, we will move closer to our goal of reducing food loss and waste by 50% by 2030. 💪

We challenged our chefs to a Blended Burger Challenge for Earth Day! 🍔 By reducing or eliminating beef and replacing it with exciting plant-based ingredients like mushrooms and black beans, we're helping to reduce the carbon impact of burgers by half (or more)!

How? Here’s the TL;DR: The meat industry is resource intensive and produces a lot of greenhouse gas emissions. By even reducing beef in a burger by half, we can have a big impact without sacrificing flavor.

Try for yourself this Earth Day at Dawg Dish (food truck) and Midtown Provisions for lunch as our chefs put their plant-forward pedal to the metal. 💪
