“Baan” means home in Thai, and we want our restaurant to feel like you are in our home, where we serve our favorite, authentic Thai recipes passed down from my grandmother to my mother, to me. Our menu consists of many dishes from my family’s home town in Udon Thani or Issan, a region located in Northeast Thailand. Our food has many dishes that one may find in Laos, as well. Along with other popular Thai dishes, here are some of our Chef’s Favorite Creations: (Khao Soi) Chicken Drumsticks Curry w/ Noodles, Issan Thai Sausage & Sticky Rice (Sai Krok), Crispy Rice Salad (Nam Kai Tod), (Haw Mok) Red Curry Fish Custard, and our Crispy Pork Belly & Char Sui dish.

Traditional Thai oiled umbrellas are often handmade in family homes in Chiang Mai (Northern Thailand). These bamboo framed umbrellas have a saa paper shade that gently provides sun protection. They can also be used purely as decoration, as you see here in our restaurant. Thai umbrellas are often exquisitely hand-painted, depicting local flowers, birds, and Buddhist themes. There's even an Umbrella Festival each year in January in Chiang Mai, attended by people from all over the world!

Now, next time you dine here at Baan Thai, you can tell your dinner company all about the umbrellas they see on the wall!

Careful thought and intention went into the decor in our restaurant; we purposely chose art that is both eye-catchingly beautiful and meaningful in Thai culture as well.

🐘 If you ever visit Thailand, you will see elephants incorporated into art, clothing, advertising, and even architecture. That's because the elephant is the national animal of Thailand! Elephants are symbolic of strength, loyalty, and longevity, and some believe that walking under an elephant will bring you good luck! That's why we placed this beautiful elephant bust right next to our register; you can't miss it!
