🎉ONE YEAR AGO TODAY🎉

One year ago today, I took a leap of faith and opened the doors to our catering office; Danny Boone’s Catering.

I knew I had a dream. I knew I had a passion. But I don’t think I could have imagined everything that would happen over the past year.

We have worked HARD to build something special. Not just a catering business, but a catering service built on good food, great people, hard work, and unforgettable memories. From weddings and celebrations to churches, businesses, schools, retirement communities, and all the special moments in between, every event has meant something to us.

I’m incredibly proud of what we have built in just one year. And I’m even more thankful for every single person who has trusted us to feed your families, your friends, your employees and your guests.

Then, chef went and got hurt. That definitely wasn’t in the business plan!

We’re now in Week 3 of the leg/knee brace and strict non weight bearing orders, and when this part of the healing is over, I’m looking at 12 weeks of physical therapy. Needless to say, this is NOT exactly how I pictured celebrating our first anniversary.

But here’s what this injury didn’t break!! MY SPIRIT!

I may be sitting down. I may be moving a little slower. I may have to change the way we do some things for a while, but I’m still dreaming, still planning, still creating, still cooking (in my mind 😂) and still believing in what Danny Boone’s Catering will be!

Right now, we’re praying that my body continues to heal itself naturally and that each week brings a little more strength and a little less pain. 🙏

One year ago, I opened those doors with nothing but faith, a dream, and a whole lot of determination.

Today, I’m looking back with GRATITUDE.

We made it through Year One.

And Chef may be temporarily sitting on the sidelines, but we aren’t done yet!

Thank you to everyone who has supported Danny Boone’s Catering, booked us, shared our posts, recommended us, prayed for me, checked on me, and believed in our dream with us.

Year One is in the books.

Now let’s see what God has planned for Year Two.

Chef, Big Daddy; paw paw, whatever we are calling him these days is over the moon for this new little grandson! Mattox is going home today!!

Chef is 3 weeks in on an 8 week non-weigh bearing order. He is doing well, thank you for your prayers and support durning this time!

KNEE & FOOT UPDATE

I wanted to give everyone an update after being evaluated by orthopedics today, along with an update on my left foot.

My CT confirmed an acute fracture of the lateral tibial plateau, which is the upper portion of the shinbone where it forms the knee joint.

The good news is that the fracture is nondisplaced and nondepressed. In simple terms, the bone is fractured, but it has not significantly shifted out of position, and the joint surface has not collapsed. The fracture does involve the weight bearing surface of the knee, so protecting it while it heals is very important.

The CT also showed a small to moderate joint effusion, which is fluid and swelling inside the knee from the injury, along with mild arthritis in all three compartments of the knee.

After today’s orthopedic evaluation, the current treatment plan is nonoperative management with strict non weight bearing restrictions and continued rest and protection of the knee. We will reevaluate in one week to monitor the healing process and make sure the fracture remains stable and properly aligned.

As for my left foot, that issue was actually discovered yesterday during my evaluation at Atrium Health, not during today’s orthopedic appointment. They determined that I have cellulitis of the left foot, which is an infection of the skin and underlying soft tissue.

I’m still not sure exactly how my foot was wounded or punctured. I had socks and shoes on when I fell, so I’m honestly still trying to figure out how that happened.

And believe it or not, at this point my foot hurts worse than my knee. The knee fracture is certainly no picnic, but the pain and infection in my foot have been the bigger issue for me right now.

So for now, I’m going to do what I’m supposed to do: stay completely non weight bearing, rest and protect my knee, take care of the infection in my foot, and give my body the opportunity to heal.

We will reevaluate everything in one week and see where we stand.

CHEF UPDATE 8/31/26

We wanted to take a moment to update everyone on Chef’s progress.

Chef will be seeing the orthopedic doctor this Friday to find out exactly what the next steps will be for his shattered patella. We are really praying that surgery will not be necessary, but whatever the doctor recommends, we are ready to face it head on.

The goal is simple; heal, recover, and get Chef back to doing what he loves and back to his normal self!

The last few days have been overwhelming in the best possible way. The calls, texts, messages, prayers, and offers to help have meant more than you could ever know. Every single one has been felt and appreciated.

This has definitely been a reminder of just how blessed Chef is to have so many amazing people in his corner.

Please continue to keep him in your prayers as we head into Friday. We’ll keep everyone updated as we know more.

A VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM DANNY BOONE’S CATERING

We have some unexpected news to share with our customers, friends, and supporters.

Chef Danny suffered a serious fall yesterday, that resulted in a fractured patella (kneecap). His doctor has instructed him to remain strictly non weight bearing for the next six weeks, and he is expected to undergo reconstructive surgery after the initial healing period.

As a result, Danny Boone’s Catering will be temporarily out of service for the next several weeks. This was not something we anticipated, and unfortunately, it is beyond our control. Our top priority is helping Chef Danny heal properly and recover fully.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported our business by booking events, sharing our posts, purchasing our food, and encouraging us from the beginning. Your support means more to us than ever during this difficult time.

For clients with upcoming events that we are unable to fulfill, we will contact you directly. All deposits for affected events will be fully refunded.

We will continue to provide updates as Chef Danny moves through his recovery. As soon as we are medically able to return to the kitchen and resume catering, we will let you know.
