Well, Facebook has decided that Crit and Ale is no longer eligible to be recommended to new people.

They haven’t told us what we posted, which rule we supposedly broke, or what we need to fix. We’ve requested a review, but until Meta decides our fate, we could really use your help keeping Crit and Ale visible.

If you enjoy our trivia, music bingo, karaoke, murder mysteries, or general nerdy nonsense, please share our posts and events when you see them. Tag your friends, leave a comment, and invite people who might enjoy what we do. Every share helps us reach people Facebook has decided not to show us to.

(And yes, we do find it slightly suspicious that this happened shortly after publicly criticizing Meta’s new “Meta One paywall” for adding links to business posts. Surely that timing is just a hilarious little coincidence…)

Small businesses already have to fight for visibility. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone willing to help us roll with disadvantage until this restriction is resolved.

See a Crit and Ale post? Share it with your party.

I was thrilled to link the Independence Chamber of Commerce calendar to announce we have our ribbon cutting set for October 29 at 1pm, but then we remembered that FB has started the heinous act of charging small businesses to post links, and I already used 2 of my 4 for the month before I discovered it... because fb sure didn't send out a notice to business accounts letting them know it was happening.

It's hard enough getting visibility as a small business, being able to link to events, news, and other tidbits is a VITAL part of getting the word out, but now we have to pay to play. Just in time for our Grand Opening 😒

If you want to help out small businesses, please share their posts about their events, even if you can't attend. It is really the only thing they aren't trying to charge us for (yet).

One of the saddest things about working so hard to get the shop opened up by Halloween is that we did not have enough time to arrange any of the many ideas we had to celebrate the holiday with you all 😭

Just wait til next year ...

Our Kickstarter is Live!!!

We have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to get the store up and running by Halloween, but even when we get our doors open, we still have lots of plans for the future! If you want to help us realize those plans a little faster, please take a peek at our kickstarter!

If you are unable to pledge, that's fine, too! Sharing the campaign can do SO MUCH to help as well! This isn't just another bookstore, we want this to be a true community!

Time to put your gourd-geous designs to the test! Because we are giving a little extra time for people to join the fun, we will be extending the drop-off deadline to October 22!
