Baby #6 is Here!🥳

And Lila had a GIRL!💝

We had a string of boys and are excited to have this white-booted girl in our herd.

We will bottle feed her for 4 months and then she’ll be put in with the older girls out on pasture until she’s 2 1/2 years old.
At that point she’ll be bred to have her own baby.

In a little over 3 years from now, she’ll be producing milk for our Farm Store customers.🥛😋

And yes, she will drink lots and lots of high-quality milk and eat lots of pasture & hay during that time.😅

It takes a long time for a dairy cow to financially ‘give back’ all the money & time we pour into her in her growing up years.😊

👨🏻‍🌾Your farmer is just over here taking care of you & your family’s future food… 3 years in advance.😉

Fall is in the air.🍂😍

I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to see fall arrive. I’m a spring & warm, sunny weather person aka 70-85 degrees…

But today. This cloudy, cool day… It was perfection.👌

I heard there are reports that we’ve had 99 days over 90 degrees and lots of them were over 100 degrees.

Y’all that’s more than I can fathom but somehow we survived. 🥵

Maybe that’s why I’ve been finding it hard to push through the days these past few weeks?

The weariness of financial business decisions in drought conditions is tough. 💔 And seeing crispy pastures get cooked another day can be pretty depressing.🥺

So today we celebrate!

Beautiful, cool fall days where the cows & the farmers have a hopeful excitement in their steps again. 💃🏻

And new birth is experienced.

    1    Reserve online with a $300 deposit
    2    Fill out the cutting order form from our processor, Krehbiels (they’ll walk you through it!)
    3    We email your invoice at processing time
    4    Pay Krehbiels directly & pick up your meat in McPherson

Meat will be ready in 4-6 weeks.

“The pigs are my favorite,” a little girl giggled on a farm tour a while back.

She didn’t want to leave the fence.

Before she & her mama headed home, her mama said, “I can see your pigs are happy pigs. I want to be a part of what ya’ll are doing here.”

She signed up for a 1/2 hog share that day.

That’s the difference.
Our pigs get to root, roam, & just be pigs.
