My grandfather, Billy’s dad, had a small country store in Skinem, Alabama, (around the Walnut Grove community), and from an early age Dad realized that he would one day like to be in the grocery business. So, in 1964 when an opportunity became available in Fayetteville, Tennessee, he and my mother, Eunice, took a leap of faith. With the exception of just a couple years, they have been in the groce

ry business ever since. Now that they have retired, they still remain sole-owners while the next generation of the Slayton family operates the business along with a lot of fine employees. In July 1987 we opened Food Valu at the corner of Bell Factory and Winchester Road, and then in November 1993 the second Food Valu location opened at 1762 Winchester Road. We feel that we have the best customers anyone could ask for. We have formed long lasting relationships with so many of them and want to thank each of them for supporting us over the years and for the years to come. We are glad to support all of the local schools and various organizations in our area as well as providing our customers service the best in meat and produce and competitive prices.
