Yesterday, at Gyro King Huntington, a guy came in behind me who was obviously new and started checking out the menu. He asked me if the place was "worth it." I said "Absolutely. It's really good."
He said that he had never been inside The Market before, but he'd heard a lot about it, and I thought, "You're talking to the right guy."
He said he'd heard there was a Jamaican restaurant in the building. I told him he's looking for Karubees Jamaican Restaurant, straight out the door of Gyro King and across the aisle.
He asked which was better and I said that everything in The Market is top-notch. If you're in the mood for Jamaican, Karubee's is going to hit the spot. But you gotta hit up Gyro King soon, too. And Austin's at The Market - Homemade Ice Cream. And Butter It Up at The Market. And Taqueria '84.
Y'all, a lot of people have been working very hard and investing a lot of money in making downtown Huntington what it has become. Recall the mayor if you have to, but don't take out your frustrations on our local small businesses.
