Our Kanawha River D***s are starting to land in their new waters — and we’re always impressed with a nice UV light rig. What a stunner!

The Huntington City Council recently decided to sell our whole city’s privacy to Flock, after receiving scant assurances and none on paper that Flock wouldn’t abuse the rights of, trade in the data of, and otherwise violate the rights of the citizens. Countless cities before us have sounded the alarm on Flock’s hackability, its retention of citizens’ biometric data, and the misuse of the technology by bad actors. The privacy concerns are significant, and the decision by the Council jeopardizes the rights of all Huntingtonians.

Folks are floating a general boycott of Huntington, which we understand. If you feel like you can’t - or won’t - willingly drive into a surveillance state, we get it. We have a website; we’ll ship out of occupied territory. We also have many vendor events outside of our fair city, and we can meet on less contentious ground.

We dearly, sincerely hope that the City Council will reconsider its decision; listen to the voices of its citizens; and reverse course. We support the efforts of our neighbors who are trying to educate the council members and their neighbors, and who are catalyzing around this event to effect positive change in our community.

Huntington isn’t perfect and it’s home. It’s where we are and where we want to be. But as a growing company we can scarce afford the adverse economic effects of the Council’s decision. We have no one’s ear on the Council; but we thought it important to voice our objections, as a small business founded in Huntington, WV, the Jewel City, in 2025.
