Like thier pitiful excuse of a national guard would be able to take control of a state as big as Virginia a whopping 3400 Infantry and support unit. Even if every single guy showed up they dont have the numbers to even occupy one major city. Virginia 42000 square miles with a population of 8.5 million with a population density of 206 per square mile thats one soldier per 2500 citizens. Compare that to Afghanistan 450000 square miles with a population of 32 million at a density of 119 per square mile. Even at its highest level of deployment of 100,000 soldiers that was one soldier per 320 Afghanistan with air support, indirect fire, drones, etc and that was 2011 we still werent able to control most of the country. So if you think 3400 infantrymen without any fires support will be able to maintain control at 1/9th the troop saturation then the governor has another thing coming.
This compares to a veteran population of 780,000 lets break that down because most of them are squids. There an estimated 1% infantry veterans in the state so starting 7800 lets say only half are willing or capable of fighting so 3900 infantry veterans who have spend years of thier life on the other side of guerrilla warfare. According to Coin that puts thier estimated ability for hindering operations at roughly on par with the ability of 11700 regular infantry acting in traditional means. So according to Coin doctrine the National Guard at full force would be out numbered 3 to 1.
That is completely discounting all Civilians as well as "Foriegn fighters" coming from outside the state. If we through them in the ring those poor bastards of the members of the 116th Combat brigade are being ked to slaughter all to enforce unconstitutional gun laws
“And ultimately, the governor may have to nationalize the National Guard to enforce the law. That’s his call, but that’s obviously an option he has.”
