Had a great time today serving as a judge at the 7th Annual Magic City Grill Fest in Colon, Michigan! What a fantastic event filled with amazing people, incredible food, and some seriously talented pitmasters competing in ribs, wings, and beef sliders. This year’s event even featured a coveted World Food Championships Golden Ticket for the burger winner, which raised the stakes even higher.
As always, judging BBQ isn’t about eating—it’s about evaluating every detail: appearance, tenderness, flavor, balance, creativity, and ex*****on. I sampled some outstanding entries today, and I definitely didn’t leave hungry! 😄
A huge thank you to the organizers, volunteers, competitors, and everyone who came out to support this great community event. It was an honor to be part of it alongside my wife, Tracy, and the rest of the judging team.
Congratulations to all the teams who fired up their grills today—you made our job both difficult and delicious!
CRAZY - Crazy side note - the judge in the pic with me is Greg. I never met Greg before...at least I didn't think I did, till in our conversation I found out he and I both went to Ferris State College...during the same years (1980-1982)...and lived in the same dorm (Hallisy Hall)...on the same floor!!!!! CRAZZZZZYYY!!
