Awesome Bites treats were never “just something you could eat.”

They were the treats people got excited about.

The muffins, cookies, cakes and n’ice cream were made to feel freakin’ . Not like a possibly “edible”check-in-the-box. Not like the thing you ate because it was the ONLY option.

More like, “Wait… your treat looks better than mine.”

The secret sauce was an unreasonable, uncompromising dedication to making treats that people actually wanted.

Top 9 allergen free. Dye free. Completely . Made with care 💕so you didn’t have to wonder about the chance of cross contact. By a possibly OCD founder who checked for shared lines of every single ingredient and bought her team snacks so they wouldn’t bring anything outside in.

Is there another bakery and ice cream shop in Houston doing all of that? No.

That’s what I don’t want us to lose.

We have 3 days left in our storefront.

What comes after that is Awesome Bites 2.0: a way to keep making the treats you love, not from our one shop far from many but neighborhood pop ups closer to you.

What you fundraise now will determine how Awesome Bites continues in Houston. Today it looks like it ends at a Halloween 🎃 pop-up.

UPDATED: This may be goodbye to Awesome Bites altogether. And that’s the hardest part to say. 💔

I tried to explain where we are in the videos. It’s 4 minutes of me, unfiltered, trying to put a decade of love into words—and explain how hard it is to feel like I’m letting y’all down. I hope you can stay with me. Thank you for listening.

If you need the short version…

Our last day at the Houston storefront is Sunday, September 27. The plans I’ve been working on for Awesome Bites 2.0 haven’t progressed as I hoped, and I find myself at a crossroads.

Closing the storefront is definite. Being able to continue afterward isn’t. If we can’t reach the funding milestones to make a next chapter possible, Awesome Bites could be gone for good.

I wish I had better news. I wish I were better at asking for help. And asking sooner.

I hope over the years we’ve filled your tummy and your heart with a feeling of safety and care. It has truly filled my heart to feed y’all—to give you a bite of what’s been missing and a place where what makes you different is celebrated.

I hope this isn’t goodbye. But if there’s going to be a next chapter, I can’t do it alone. I need your help.

We’ve started a campaign to help Awesome Bites live on through neighborhood pop ups. Every milestone helps us bring more food, connection, and community back to you:

I have heard what our place means to so many in this community, and I know what it means to me, my family, and my team.

It’s not what my heart wants to do, but after a lot of trying, pivoting, hoping and holding on, I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to close the Awesome Bites storefront at the end of September.

But this isn’t necessarily goodbye to Awesome Bites. It is goodbye to this version of it.

There’s a lot more I want to share about how we got here, what the next few weeks will look like, and what I hope might come next. I’ll send follow-up emails in the coming days that should answer many of your questions.

But today, as it is now my 3rd attempt,
I just needed to start by saying this:

Back 2 School Special

Day 2 of “back to school” and OMG do I already feel lost about what to do for breakfast, lunch & dinner.

Given I have a full blown TEENAGER now - I know I can’t believe it too. I don’t get the cute pics like the ones above - I’m more than happy that she still gives me a 😘 and bear 🐻 hugs on the rare blue 🌙.

• WHITEOUT - the opposite of our popular blackout. A vanilla cupcake stuffed with vanilla pudding topped with vanilla bean frosting and vanilla cake crumbs

Okay, quick update, . I’m reopening preorders because I know some of you still want your favorites. You have until 8 PM tonight to order for 2/14 pickup. We’ll have a limited amount for walk-ins Friday too.

And just tbh, as we make some big changes at Awesome Bites, some of these items won’t be offered again. So if you want them, order 8pm.
