Todayβs work has a little different soundtrack. π
Like so many people, I woke up still having a hard time believing that Dolly Parton is gone.
Iβve loved Dolly and her music for as long as I can remember. There was just something about her β her voice, her humor, her faith, her kindness, her strength, and that unmistakable sparkle. She showed generations of women that you could be feminine and strong, humble and successful, kind and determined β and that there was absolutely nothing wrong with dreaming big and working hard to get there.
So today, while Iβm in the kitchen doing what I love and putting in the hours behind this little business of mine, there really couldnβt be a more fitting song than β9 to 5.β πΆ
Dollyβs music has been part of the soundtrack of so many of our lives. We sang along with her, laughed with her, cried with her, and somehow felt like we knew her. But I think what made her truly special was that her heart seemed every bit as big as her talent.
The world lost an icon yesterday, but what a legacy she leaves behind. Her songs will keep playing. Her words will keep inspiring us. Her generosity will continue changing lives. And there will never be another Dolly. π
Today Iβll work a little harder, dream a little bigger, turn the music up a little louder, and be grateful we got to share this world with her.
Rest easy, Dolly. Thank you for the music, the laughter, the example, and the reminder to never be afraid of a little hard work and a whole lot of sparkle. β¨
