Thank you for the incredible outpouring of love following the passing of our dear friend and longtime manager, George G. Davis. So many of you have shared fond memories, sent condolences, and asked if there’s a way to support his family during this time.

George is survived by his daughter, son and daughter-in-law, his young granddaughter, his mother, and his two older brothers and their families. For those who have asked how they can help, we’re sharing a GoFundMe to offer some support and care to those George loved most as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.

It is with immense sadness that we share the passing of our longtime manager and dear friend, George G. Davis.
George was part of the Molina’s Cantina family for 44 years. He was incredibly dedicated, sharp-witted and no-nonsense and, according to George himself, “spoke Spanish pretty well for a gringo.” His words, not ours.

Proud of his roots in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, George was equally proud to be a Texan. He wholeheartedly embraced the cowboy spirit, complete with a classic collection of very cool hats.

Beneath that tough exterior was someone who cared deeply about his team, our guests and the people in his life.

Every year when we posted for George’s birthday, he was genuinely surprised when hundreds of comments poured in from longtime guests. The response came as no surprise to us. Over 44 years, George had made an impact on so many people. He would spend the evening responding to comment after comment, remembering someone’s family, asking about their kids or recalling a story from years before.

That was George.

For years, he also made sure a longtime guest turned friend who was in hospice had Molina’s cheese enchiladas every week. No one asked him to do it. That was simply the kind of person he was.

George devoted 44 years of his life to Molina’s, and it is difficult to put into words what that kind of loyalty, hard work and care has meant to our family and our restaurant.

Above all, George loved his family. He loved his daughter, his son, his daughter-in-law, his new granddaughter and his mom, who survive him. Anyone who spent five minutes talking with George knew how much the people he loved meant to him.

We were incredibly lucky to have known him, worked alongside him and called him our friend. His loss will be felt immensely by generations of the Molina’s family and by the countless customers who came to know him over the years.

Thank you for everything, George.

Twenty-five years ago, our nation was rocked to its core. Nearly 3,000 lives were lost, and countless people lost family members, friends, neighbors, and loved ones.

But in the midst of unimaginable grief, we were reminded of what we are capable of when people across backgrounds, beliefs, communities, and walks of life come together to care for one another.

As we remember September 11, may we also hold onto that spirit of unity, compassion, and faith in each other. May we never forget those we lost, those who answered the call to help, and our shared responsibility to continue coming together as Americans.
