In veneration of our patron saint, San Giuseppe, SHS has fed the hungry since its inception in 1923. Today through the wonderful SVdP Society of the Archdiocese Galveston-Houston, we continue the solemn tradition. Assa benerica!

Viva San Giuseppe!!! 🇮🇹 Last weekend found members of SHS supporting several Houston-area Tavola di San Giuseppe celebrations. Our Lady of Walsingham and Christ the Redeemer churches joined fellow diocesan congregations like Queen of Peace in LaMarque and St Ignatius of Loyola created outstanding altars to Sicily’s patron, St. Joseph! The last photo is straight from the old country. Beautiful altar on full display from in Trapani, Sicilia!! ♥️ Prega per noi San Giuseppe 🙏

You’re so very welcome! And thank you for the kind note!

💕 Houston Coalition for Life is so grateful for a very generous gift from the Sacred Heart Society of Little York!

In the early 1920s, the Sacred Heart Society of Little York was formed by a group of Italian men, most of whom immigrated from the Province of Palermo, Sicily, to the United States.

We are deeply touched by this generous gift that will help us encourage and empower more women in crisis pregnancies to choose life!

On August 17, Sacred Heart Society of Little York, Houston's oldest Italian men's social club, awarded $15,000.00 to the Charity Guild of Catholic Women a non-profit organization to help children in need in the Greater Houston Area. The presentation took place at the Charity Guild Shop located at 1203 Lovett Blvd. The Charity Guild is celebrating their 100th anniversary.

Viva San Giuseppe! At Dickinson’s Little Italy Festival, Sacred Heart Society of Little York donated $1,000 for the True Cross Catholic Church’s St Joseph Altar this weekend. We thank them for their commitment to continue the benevolent tradition of feeding the hungry. What started in the Middle Ages marches onward…

Sacred Heart Society took it on the road today to visit one of its most venerated members, 97-year old, Nelson Thornton. The Club snuck in a quart of its world famous for Nelson to enjoy 🍝 and received a gift itself; an unexpected visit with long time SHS gem, Camilla Scalise! The visit did the soul good and we parted in typical fashion, with a heart felt “assabenedica”🇮🇹!!!!

welcomed Fall at the last weekend while celebrating the flora of the Mediterranean! What an honor to profile and the pivotal role the many cultures that inhabited the island had across the millennia. The Greeks (olives, grapes), Romans (frumentu wheat), Arabs (citrus fruits, ), Normans and Spanish (ficu d’inni) left their indelible mark on the plants, trees, and crops - many of which were brought to Texas and now flourish. That day we welcomed many honorary Sicilian Americans from the area. Find your outreach!
