I had their tamales a few months back and for my taste, to much dough not enough meat. It all depends in the country that they are from, because they different types of tamales. They are Mexican, Columbian, and various other South American countries including Cuban. The closest I've come my taste is Alamo Tamales on Navigation.

These tamales are very close to my husband's grandmother's. We have purchased the mixed, seasoned masa--then build them ourselves with our own fillings. This seasoning comes closest to what Eladia Cantu made with her many offspring years back while living on the Norias section of the King Ranch, outside Raymondville. AUTHENTIC TEX-MEX. It's a thing.

My wife grew up in Arizona and the tamales there are heavy on the masa and light on the meat. The sauces are also different than ours in Texas - more like New Mexico. We both like Tex-Mex style tamales, but will give Tamales a Mano a try. Tamales are a Christmas tradition for us.

Don, you're right about Arizona tamales. Visited my Aunt in Tucson and went to a college fair and tried the tamales from various vendors and all of them were different from each other. I guess I'm just used to my mothers and my sister in law tamales.

I'll bet they're good. I loved home-made tamales when I lived in South Texas as a teenager. My wife's specialty is chicken enchiladas with green chili and tomatillo sauce.

You may want to thicken the salsa with cream cheese or sour cream for smoother look. I do not like sour cream but that is me.
