Story time…
My grandfather (Packa’s husband) died in April 2009 after spending his entire life living on the farm (born on farm in 1934) in Horse Shoe. … Sometime in 2010, Packa’s expressed to me that she’d always wanted a special barn quilt, a purple iris (her fav flower) on the barn, but couldn’t get her husband to agree to it. Not sure if it was the flower element, the cost, the look?? She didn’t know, but knew that since he was gone- she got the final say 😉.
She asked me if I could paint one for her, so in February 2011- we hung her first ever barn art. A week later it snowed beautifully and the bright artwork really shined.

15.5 years later, many days of rain, snow, sunshine, wind and other elements- the art was in desperate need of a touch up.

Yesterday, Sam (and Ian and Steve) hung the new and improved, refreshed and 2026 version of this very special and meaningful piece.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. So happy to be able to keep writing chapters in this lands story.
