Lois A. O'Hara Smith
ARKPORT, NEW YORK — Lois A. O'Hara Smith, 78, of Arkport, New York, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
Born on April 1, 1948, in Granger, New York, Lois lived a life marked by kindness, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was known for her warm heart, generous spirit, and the countless friendships she nurtured throughout her life. Her presence brought comfort to those around her, and she was always ready with words of encouragement, wisdom, and support.
Lois was the beloved wife of the late Jon E. Smith Sr. Together they shared more than five decades of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, and love. Their partnership was one of dedication, mutual respect, and cherished memories that spanned generations.
Family was the cornerstone of Lois's life. She found her greatest fulfillment in the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Whether celebrating milestones, hosting family gatherings, or simply enjoying everyday moments, Lois created lasting memories and traditions that will continue to be treasured by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, James (Patricia) McNulty of Canisteo, Nancy (Jeff) McNulty-Kehl of Wellsville, Michael (Danielle) Smith of Arkport, Mary (Charles) Class of Hornell, Gloria (Jason) Smith of Newark, Jon (Corrine) Smith of Hornell, and Patrick (Stacy) Smith of Maryland; her brothers, Surrogate Dibble and Richard O'Hara; 26 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
In addition to her husband, Jon E. Smith Sr., Lois was preceded in death by other beloved family members who welcomed her into eternal rest.
Those who knew Lois will remember her for her compassion, strength, generosity, and unconditional love. Her legacy lives on in the values she instilled, the lives she touched, and the family that she loved so deeply. Though she will be profoundly missed, her memory will remain forever in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
In accordance with Lois's wishes, no calling hours, visitation, or funeral services will be held.
Forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
