🎉 WE FINALLY HAVE A WINNER! 🎉

And when I say finally, I mean it. This took WAY longer to figure out than I ever expected.

We took our follower list, removed the businesses and organizations, randomized the names, and picked our winner completely at random.

🏆 Congratulations, Boyer Bobby 🏆

Send us a message and we’ll get you hooked up with your Hood Canal Street Eats hoodie! 🌭🔥

And seriously, THANK YOU to everyone who helped us hit 2,000 followers! Whether you follow the page, share our posts, recommend us, or come grab some food, I appreciate every bit of it. ❤️

One thing I learned from this giveaway: next time, you’re gonna have to comment to enter. 😂 Apparently that’s about the only reasonable way to use the Facebook giveaway apps to randomly select a winner.

Otherwise, you end up taking a ridiculous number of screenshots, putting together crazy-long spreadsheets, removing businesses and organizations, and then randomizing everything yourself.

I definitely learned my lesson. 🤦‍♂️😂

**Next stop: I will let you know! **

And when we get there, I promise the giveaway won’t require me to build a spreadsheet the size of a small novel. 😂

📺 HERE IS LAST NIGHT’S SHELTON CITY COUNCIL MEETING

For anyone who wasn’t able to attend the October 6 City Council meeting, here is the full recording:

https://www.youtube.com/live/aB3pailoyrs?is=D-gRZS2kEhja5ynD

The proposed Mobile Food Vendor Ordinance is scheduled for a final vote on October 20, so I encourage everyone interested in this issue to watch the discussion and read the documents for themselves.

Unfortunately, finding those documents isn’t exactly easy.

📄 Proposed Mobile Food Vendor Ordinance

The only version I have been able to find on the City’s website is buried inside the September 1 Council packet, and it isn’t even the current version being considered.

https://cms8.revize.com/revize/sheltonwa/government/city%20council/meetings/2026/0901/Website%20Packet_20260901.pdf?t=202608311456500

📄 Public Comments & City Responses

The City also created a matrix containing concerns submitted by the public, proposed changes, and the City’s responses.

That document is also only available in one place that I have been able to find:

https://cms8.revize.com/revize/sheltonwa/government/city%20council/meetings/2026/0901/Ordinance%202043_0726%20Comments%20Matrix%20FINAL%20992026.pdf?t=202609151425520

We are less than two weeks from a final vote on an ordinance that will regulate mobile food businesses in Shelton.

The public shouldn’t have to hunt through old Council meeting materials just to figure out what is being proposed, what concerns have been raised, and how the City responded.

The current proposed ordinance, the public comments, and the City’s responses should be easy for anyone to find.

Watch the meeting. Read the documents. Ask questions.

Final vote: October 20.

🌭SHELTON SAYS IT RESEARCHED SPOKANE. SO LET’S LOOK AT WHAT SPOKANE ACTUALLY DID.

In City of Shelton, WA - Governments own response to public comments on the proposed Mobile Food Vendor Ordinance, staff stated that they researched more than 10 jurisdictions through MRSC. (Well so did we)

One of the cities they specifically named was Spokane.

Here’s what makes that interesting:

In May 2026, Spokane eased its food truck regulations, eliminating its separate mobile food vendor licensing process and removing regulations it considered unnecessary or duplicative of other agencies.

https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2026/may/04/spokane-eases-food-truck-regulations-particularly-/

Meanwhile, Shelton is proposing additional City requirements while mobile food businesses are already regulated by L&I, Public Health, and fire authorities.

So I think there’s a fair question to ask:

If Spokane was one of the cities Shelton researched, did we also look at WHY Spokane decided to remove regulatory barriers and duplication?

Researching other cities shouldn’t only be about finding regulations to add. It should also mean looking at what other cities determined they didn’t need.

If there’s a legitimate hazard, regulate the hazard.

If another agency already has technical jurisdiction, use that agency’s expertise.

Sometimes good regulation means adding a rule. Sometimes it means realizing you don’t need one.

Shelton City Council is scheduled to vote on this ordinance October 20.

⚠️ THIS CONCERNS ME, AND IT SHOULD CONCERN YOU.

I’ve reached out to several local food vendors asking them to come speak at tonight’s City of Shelton, WA - Government Council meeting.

Two local vendors specifically told me they do not feel comfortable speaking publicly because they are concerned about possible retaliation from the City. Another expressed concerns that made me believe they were hesitant for similar reasons.

I won’t identify them, and I’m not claiming this proves the City would retaliate.

But I understand their concern.

I personally believe an inappropriate restriction has already been placed on my City business endorsement, and I am concerned that my being so vocal throughout this process played a role in that decision.

That is my concern based on my own experience. I think the City should be able to explain the basis for any restriction it places on a business endorsement, regardless of whether that business owner has publicly criticized City decisions.

People directly affected by an ordinance should feel comfortable participating in the public process without worrying about what speaking up could mean for their business.

📣 If you have an opinion about this ordinance, please come speak tonight.

If you want to give public comment, arrive a little early and sign the public-comment sheet in the foyer outside the Council Chamber/Courtroom.

Support it, oppose it, or ask for changes. Make sure Council hears from the public before the scheduled October 20 vote.

👇 Would you feel comfortable publicly disagreeing with the City if your business depended on City permits or approvals?

I’m tagging local business organizations and media because I believe this conversation deserves broader attention:

🚨 SHELTON: TOMORROW IS YOUR CHANCE TO SPEAK UP.

Tomorrow is the last regular City Council meeting before the scheduled October 20 vote on Shelton’s proposed mobile food vendor ordinance.

For months, you’ve seen us talk about this. Now I’m asking you to get involved.

You don’t have to own a food truck.
You don’t have to own a business.
You don’t even have to agree with us.

I just want the City Council to hear from more of the people they represent before they vote.

🔥 MY CHALLENGE: 25 PEOPLE.

Can we get 25 people to attend tomorrow, speak during public comment, or submit their thoughts to the City?

👇 If you’re willing to participate, comment “I’M IN.”

And if you can’t participate, SHARE this post so we can reach someone who will.

Support it. Oppose it. Ask for changes.

📣 Whatever you believe, tell the City BEFORE the vote, not after.
