Continuing down this morning's rabbit hole, here are two USGS aerial images (in the public domain) that emphasize how much Kilauea Caldera has filled -- and highlight the fact that the piece of Crater Rim Drive that fell into the caldera in 2018 (circled in red in top photo) has recently been submerged in new lava. Top photo is from June 2023 and bottom is from this past episode in August 2026.
