Sweet Revenge was originally called Bliss Bakery, which mirrors the reason why I'm doing this in the first place. The reality of having to become independent after the end of a 25 year marriage was more than a little frightening, and in retrospect makes me amazed that I made the decision that I did. I turned down a stable desk job to start Bliss, naïvely believing that just committing to an excell

ent product using my passion for baking was enough to succeed. No employees, no clients, not even much of a plan– just dedication and tentative hope. Not really a strategy based on solid economic principles, but somehow it’s been working out so far. In a year, Bliss went from running at a loss, to selling out at the farmer’s market and taking pre-orders right at the kitchen’s door before we even load up the car and roll out. Bliss Bakery was a cute name, but once it was clear that this was going to work; that I really could sustain myself by doing this, I needed to change it. The name "Bliss” was more or less decided on a whim, and honestly it sounds like Martha Stewart came up with it. The work is hard, but I’d never have it any other way. Working in the kitchen 12 hours a day, 7 days a week doing what I love is infinitely better than doing an everyday job just for the money . Even in the beginning, when Bliss Bakery’s future was uncertain, the words “That’s the best pie I’ve ever had” were reward enough. I’m working to support myself and my two boys, and I’m doing it on my own terms. I enter my new life with my two wonderful sons and friends unmatched in their love and support of me. It’s not called Sweet Revenge because it succeeds in getting back at anyone for anything. My happiness, and the proof that willpower and hard work can make something like this happen, are the sweetest revenge.

I have a few mango pies available for today. This is the last of them for a while..... It's been an awful mango season for makaha mangoes and we're hoping for a second round of mangoes in a few months but this might be it for mow. Also have some Mochi available. Text me if you'd like to stop by and I'll hold them for you.
