Owning a food truck in Hawaiʻi is more than just cooking—it’s long nights, early mornings, fixing things yourself, and showing up no matter what… all to see people smile when they take that first bite.
But being a small business owner also means we don’t have the safety nets most jobs have. No automatic 401(k). No built-in protection. If something happens, the truck can stop—but life doesn’t.
That’s why I learned we have to invest not just in our business, but in ourselves and our families too.
Grateful to be building something for my ʻohana while also making sure they’re protected no matter what. The food truck community is a family—and in Hawaiʻi, that means looking out for each other.
If you’re another owner grinding every day like this, keep going. And don’t forget to take care of yourself too.
