Happy Hawaii Statehood Day from the slopes of South Kona! 🌺☕
On August 21, 1959, Hawaiʻi officially became the 50th state—a landmark moment driven largely by the voices of local agricultural families across the islands seeking a stronger future for their land and labor.
While statehood opened Hawaiʻi’s rich culture to the world, the story of Kona coffee runs even deeper. First brought to the islands in 1828, coffee flourished on these volcanic slopes decades before statehood. As giant sugar plantations defined the early era, it was independent family farmers in Kona who tended these hillside trees, keeping Hawaiʻi’s unique coffee tradition alive.
Today, we’re honored to carry that legacy forward.
