What a great way to celebrate EARTH DAY!

Did you know it’s also National Park Week?

We have our own National Park right in our corner. Pinnacles National Park
As we celebrate National Park Week, the most recognizable parks and landmarks are usually what first comes to mind for many people. However, there are 63 national parks (and a total of 430 NPS sites), and we want to share the love!

Today we’re highlighting a few lesser known and off-the-beaten-path national parks that are definitely worth a visit.

Take a trip to another world with a visit to Pinnacles National Park.

Known for its volcanic rock formations, this golden state getaway just 80 miles southeast of San Jose offers unique hiking, rock climbing, and camping experiences. Visitors can explore rare talus caves and towering rock spires, hike over 30 miles of majestic trails, and watch the endangered California condor soar overhead (the park is a nesting place for this largest bird in North America). Pinnacles offers Site Passes for day trips and camping at Pinnacles Campground.

Recreation.gov user Jessica T. described the campground as "comfortable and modern tent cabins conveniently located, very friendly rangers throughout the park, and beautiful hikes" while Patrick Z. added, "The park is smaller, less frenetic, and overall easier to enjoy than some of the bigger parks, and the hikes are great."

Last week, Governor Gavin Newsom announced major milestones in California's fight against COVID-19:

We have administered 20 million COVID-19 vaccine doses in our state, including 4 million in California's hardest-hit communities
COVID-19 hospitalizations have been steadily declining
As a result, Gov. Newsom outlined the next steps in the pandemic recovery, which will impact every Californian, and it will end the color tier system. Most importantly, we can expect to fully open our state's economy by June 15, so long as we meet two criteria:

Vaccine supply is sufficient for Californians 16 years and older to have the option to be inoculated
Hospitalization rates are stable and low
The return to normalcy is in sight, but only if we work together. It is up to us to continue to adhere to common-sense reduction measures like:

Wearing a mask
Getting your vaccination shot when the opportunity becomes available
Encouraging others to sign up for the vaccine as well
My Turn Button

If you have a friend or family member who may not be tech-savvy, I encourage you to help them out with the online site or let them know they can call 1-833-422-4255 to get help making their vaccination appointment over the phone.

If we continue to act smart, stay safe, and mask up, we can see a reopened California in only a couple of months. I believe we can do it. Californians overwhelmingly believe in science, data, and the efficacy of vaccines.

Let's stay the course. We're almost there.

Hi Morgan Hill neighbors! This Friday, March 12th, please consider ordering pizza (and wine!) for dinner through MOHI Winery to support local nonprofit mental health center, Discovery Counseling Center (DCC), raise money to provide free/low cost counseling to our local community and schools.

Mental health is so important, and after this crazy past year, centers like DCC are needed.

Thanks for any and all support 💙

The County of Santa Clara
Moves to the Red Tier
Effective Wednesday, March 3, 2021

Hello Morgan Hill Community,

As you may have already heard, the County of Santa Clara announced today that effective tomorrow, Wednesday, March 3, 2021, we will be moving to the Red Tier of the Blueprint for a Safer Economy and will align with the State's framework. As a result, many of the industry/activity specific local directives will be lifted, including the Health Officer's travel restriction.

The County's October 5, 2020 Risk Reduction Order, which requires everyone to follow all State orders and guidance, maintain distance, and wear face coverings as much as possible, will remain in effect. The Order also requires all businesses and other entities to maximize telework, post Social Distancing Protocols outlining specific COVID-19 safety plans, and promptly report cases to the Public Health Department.

The following changes are effective tomorrow, Wednesday, March 3, 2021:

Indoor dining at a maximum 25% capacity or 100 people, whichever is fewer;
Retail stores at a maximum 50% capacity;
Gyms and fitness centers at a maximum 10% capacity;
Movie theaters at a maximum 25% capacity or 100 people, whichever is fewer; and
Zoos, museums, and aquariums at 25% maximum indoor capacity.

For more information on what the State allows in the Red Tier, visit the State's website.

Remember, the County Health Officer urges residents to continue taking precautions, including:
Stay outdoors. Outdoor activities are safer than indoor ones.
Stay Masked. Consistent use of face coverings both indoors and outdoors, especially double-masking, effectively prevents the spread of COVID.
Maintain at least a 6-foot distance from others. Social distancing from those who do not live with you is effective at keeping COVID away.
Avoid crowds. The fewer people you encounter and the fewer interactions you have, the lower the chance the virus will spread.
Get vaccinated when it is your turn. All federally approved vaccinations work well and help keep you, your family, and your friends safe.

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I have some awesome news to share with you - the NHL, NHLPA, SAP and EVERFI have selected me to be 1 of 20 teachers across North America to be entered into the Most Valuable Teacher Program this month! This honor includes winning a prize for helping bring STEM concepts to life for students in our school community! I am honored to be one of the finalists chosen for this recognition.

I’m dedicated to teaching applications for STEM because I know that it not only impacts how healthy and productive students are during this time, but also their well-being and success far beyond the K-12 years.

Throughout the month of March, students and parents will be able to visit NHL.com/MVT and vote once a day, every day, for their favorite teacher. I hope that you will spread the word and consider voting for me by March 31st!

Feel free to share this and help me get out the vote on the platforms below:
Instagram
Twitter
Facebook

To learn more about MVT and vote visit nhl.com/mvt. If chosen as a finalist, this could mean an $10,000 technology grant for the district.

Thank you for your support!

02/17/2021

Welcome back to the Purple Tier! We are excited that Morgan Hill restaurants are permitted to provide outdoor dining once again and that personal care services are permitted to resume. We are happy to continue to support these Morgan Hill businesses, but we also recognize that there are other businesses in Morgan Hill that don't necessarily fit into either of these categories that need our support too. We would like to open this group up to ALL Morgan Hill business owners that would like to post here to promote their business in our community. Also, if you are a patron of a business that has not been represented on this page in the past, please feel free to give them a shout out showing your support. We truly want to see ALL businesses survive this pandemic with our focus remaining on Morgan Hill businesses. There are other great Facebook groups that have been created to support businesses in other areas: San Jose area: https://www.facebook.com/groups/svccc.weareopen and Gilroy: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1266899243508329. We encourage you to join these groups also to help support those businesses. Exceptions may be made for businesses outside Morgan Hill that offer items that cannot be found locally, but this will be determined on a case by case basis. Thank you all so much for your wonderful outpouring of support to our Morgan Hill business
