It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our dear friend, Dave Korte.
Many of you knew Dave from our jam sessions, guitar in hand, ready with a song, a story, or a smile. “The Dave Korte Orchestra” was a name he loved. Dave became a fixture at our bar and in our lives.
In fact, Dave was the very first customer to walk through our doors when we bought the bar. He introduced himself that day, and from then on, he became part of the 501 family.
Every year we celebrated his birthday, and those gatherings were always some of our favorite days. Dressed in his signature country clothes—usually black—and carrying that unmistakable Dave Korte style, he was truly one of a kind.
Dave’s music, friendship, humor, and presence touched so many people. The jams won’t be quite the same without him sitting in, singing a tune, and keeping the spirit alive.
We are grateful for every song, every story, every birthday celebration, and every moment we were lucky enough to share with him.
Rest easy, Dave. The music plays on, but you’ll never be replaced.
