Spring cleaning and some much-needed upgrades!

A little over 4 years ago, I asked my dad to help me build a collapsible coffee cart. He agreed as long as I had clear dimensional construction plans… so he wasn’t thrilled when I showed up with a sketch on a napkin and said “It’s all in my brain, just cut wherever I say and it’ll be fine!”

We’ve built a few more things together since then and he has learned to accept my napkin sketches. I’m incredibly thankful for the team of people it takes to keep Tolbara going, many of whom remain behind the scenes. My parents, my husband, and even my kids make sacrifices to keep this little dream of mine alive.

And YOU, our customers and friends, we’d have no purpose without you. Thank you for continuing to show up 🫶🏽

This is a tricky time to be a small business. Choosing to open for brand integrity but not making enough to cover payroll for the day, risking our safety and asking you to do the same… for a cup of coffee. There isn’t a textbook for these kinds of business decisions.

January is always hard and these two storms couldn’t have come at a worse time. BUT, we have the best customers and we know you’ll help us get through this. We need you to help us get through this.

The main roads aren’t too bad but, unfortunately, you’d have to ice skate from your car to our door… and that’s just not a risk we’re willing to take. Hopefully it melts in time to be open regular hours tomorrow. Stay tuned.

We’ll likely be closed a few days because of the storm, but that doesn’t mean you have to go without excellent coffee. Come grab a bag of light, medium, dark, or seasonal Wintertide beans to get ya through the snow!

Many resolutions focus on cutting things out. As you consider your goals for the year ahead, don’t forget: sometimes less is more but sometimes more is more.

1. We only use … ‘nuf said.
2. Did you know 70% of your money spent at local businesses stays in the community vs. 30% spent at chains? You’re investing in real families and young professionals, whose faces and voices you know.
3. Our products are thoughtfully sourced, many of which are other small businesses (, , , and more).
4. Nothing sets the tone of your day better than the first sip of an excellent drink. Don’t cut out the things that bring you joy just for resolutions sake!
