Dawn came back from the mountains with two new employees 🤦🏻‍♀️ Help us name them! One female and one male.

Doors open at 4:30 a.m., and love pours out! ☕☀️ But even earlier than that, Dawn Clodfelter, aka "Mama Dawn," and her staff start prepping the biscuits, meatloaf, and fresh-friend squash that have made Dawn's Cafe a High Point staple for 26 years.

This Thomasville local started out in the restaurant world as a dishwasher at 13, before learning "country cooking" from Granny Hughes and the restaurant business from her mentor, Pat — lessons she now passes down to her own "girls" on staff (including her granddaughter, who makes the Thursday meatloaf!).

Police officers, firefighters, seniors, city workers — Dawn takes care of her community, and her community takes care of her right back.

"Everybody knows that they support Dawn, and Dawn supports them," she says.
