Ok, hear me out.
When I was a kid, I daydreamed a lot. I imagined something great happening in my life because of the gritty decisions I would have to make. (I read a LOT of female heroine books.) I can thank my mom, my Aunt Celeste, and Mrs. Heizen from fourth grade for encouraging me to read.
Remember when Amazon was just a place to buy books? More importantly, used, cheap books? I remember spending all of my birthday money on stories about brave women and being SO excited when those books arrived in the mail.
So what does this have to do with a chocolate post?
I’ll tell ya.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would one day own a restaurant directly across the street from an incredible chocolatier like Kevin Wiseman.
Do I even need to explain how talented he is? His chocolates are probably… actually, definitely… the best I’ve ever had.
And trust me, I’m a pretty good critic. I’ve loved chocolate since I was a little girl.
So here I am, living a dream I never even knew to dream. Kevin supplies us with some of the best chocolate you’ll find anywhere. Sometimes he even delivers it himself, usually with a few extra treats in hand (like the coffee toffee in the fourth photo).
To do that chocolate justice at Oma Leen’s, we turn it into a rich but simple chocolate mousse. Honestly, it might be my favorite dessert we’ve ever made.
But isn’t it funny how life works?
Sometimes the dreams that come true aren’t the ones you imagined as a child.
Sometimes they’re even better.
